| Kentucky's "unbridled spirit" infects students |

Kentucky was one of our nation's first frontiers, and still
is known for its pioneer spirit. It is fitting then, that when several college
students from across the state came together to pray, they did so with that
same spirit of adventure. Soon, these seven students would adopt a moniker
fitting to the heart of Kentucky.
These Seven Horsemen, as they have come to be called, burn with a heart to see
the entire state engulfed in prayer. Grace Kim from the University of Louisville
tells the story of their genesis...
Starting summer 2006, I began to pray a lot for revival on college campuses, specifically at University of Louisville and other KY campuses. One day, I got to read about 24-hour prayer houses on college campuses (Ohio State, VaTech, UCLA and etc.) and a nation-wide 40-day prayer that happened amongst the major universities including Harvard, Yale and UCLA via Campus Transformation Network (Jeremy Story/Jaeson Ma). During the Fall semester of '06, I somehow got in contact with Becky Tirabassi, a national collegiate speaker and an author, and every time we talked or emailed, she would just fire me up! Soon after, she introduced me to a guy in Asbury who had a vision for a 40-day prayer in KY. At that time, I just had an inkling of this 40-day vision that it just seemed too big for me to handle. I totally felt inept to carry this thing out on my campus, not to mention to fire up the whole state. Then, the spring of '07, I found out that Ohio campuses did a relay of 40-day prayer called CampusOhio where each campus did a day or a few days of 24-hour prayer out of the whole 40-days. I thought, "I really hope this can happen in KY." AMAZINGLY, I got in touch with a girl who actually organized CampusOhio, Allison, just this fall! We kept in touch and found out that we were both going to be at the "onething" conference in December in Kansas City, MO. We met up and I got hooked up with more praying friends (via Campus America) who have been doing 24-7 prayer or who are passionate about launching 24-7 prayer on their college campuses. Since last December, Allison connected me to KY students who had a similar vision- to see prayer happening all over KY. I sent out an initiative email casting the vision. About 15 people responded - I was a little disappointed but nonetheless, we decided to meet to pray and discuss about what can happen in KY. Just this February, to my surprise, more than 30 students and other praying leaders showed up in Lexington to pray for KY. God has confirmed a lot of things concerning this prayer movement and from that night, so-called "seven horsemen," including myself emerged as the leaders coordinating the prayer movement. There is long story behind this name, but to make it short, Becky Tirabassi, my mentor and a spiritual mother, has been praying over me every time we met: "Grace, you are a warrior horse. You are a horsemen." I thought being called that was cool, but didn't really understand. But when I was at Lexington, it all made sense. As if to confirm the emergence of the seven horsemen, one of the leaders from NKU saw statues of seven horsemen on the Main Street of Lexington on the way back home. He counted the statues over and over again...and they were seven. He freaked out but thanked God. We met in March at UofL to finalize all the details. We decided that we should have a week of prayer for this semester and shoot for a 40-day prayer next semester. UK, UL and Asbury college/Asbury seminary doing the whole week non-stop prayer from April 13th through April 20th. NKU and Murray will do a few days of the week. Schools like EKU, Transylvania, and Berea are to be confirmed. There will be a kick-off event at UK on the 13th and celebration event on the 20th at Asbury. We are inviting local churches to be part of this, too. We believe God is ready to move in KY and in unity, Christ will be shown to the dark world around us and the mercy of God will hit us in waves of revival. The fire sparks in KY are gathering up! Students are waking up and crying out to God! He will not neglect us. Praise Jesus! It's totally UNBELIEVABLE how God divinely put these things together little by little and how He is continuing to do so. We pray all HIS will be done here on earth. Thanks for taking your time to read this! May God bless you! In Christ, Grace Kim University of Louisville |
