Prayer: Families Gather
by Rachel Wegner
Many branches of the 24-7 Prayer USA family around the nation are praying as the fall season unfolds. Here are just a few highlights of three Boiler Room communities joining together in prayer during the next month or so.
After the Tulsa Boiler Room hosted week of prayer from October 21-28, they decided to extend it until November 4. They focused on praying for one another as a family, as they are ever-growing and digging deeper into community life.
“We are growing, and have been experiencing some wonderful times of going deeper in friendship,” Tim Way shared in a blog post leading into the prayer week. “We’re seeing answers to prayer and are also feeling God’s longing for redemption. At the same time, this is a difficult season for many of our number. For some, it’s a dark time, and it’s tough to hang onto hope. It’s a good time for us to lift one another up in His presence.”
Meanwhile, the Kansas City Boiler Room launched a week of corporate prayer and fasting from October 31-November 4. With a growing spread of singles, couples and young families at the KC Boiler Room, their call to prayer focused on lifting one other up in all areas of spiritual and physical family life.
“When we did this week of prayer last year, God powerfully met our family in so many ways and answered prayers literally manifested right before us,” the Boiler Room Core Team shared in an e-mail. “God has no better idea than family, and so we want to pray in a concerted way for family in our midst.”
Finally, the Stockbridge Boiler Room in Grand Rapids, Michigan is preparing for a week of prayer from November 13-20. The theme of the week is “Love” and will be held in their prayer garage behind the central Boiler Room house, situated in the middle of the struggling West Side of Grand Rapids. The interns and residents of the Stockbridge Boiler Room commuity spend much of their time being good neighbors by praying for, serving and simply befriending the people around them.
“In the hectic, love can be overlooked,” the Stockbridge Boiler Room crew shared in an explanation of their prayer week. “We will be praying to know the love of God, for this love to be grown between us and for others to meet Jesus and experience His love. We are inviting people to join us in loving God with all our hearts, souls and minds and loving our neighbor as ourselves.”
